KUBA...IGEN! - CUBA....AGAIN!

Som sagt, det blir Kuba i år igen!
Egentligen är det en kompromiss. Jag hade tänkt cykla Mexiko och Yukatan-halvön egentligen. Men eftersom jag inte har varit i vidare form under hösten och en flermånaders tripp till Mexiko skulle kräva en något noggrannare planering har jag sent omsider valt att cykla på Kuba i stället. Jag har ju cyklat där vid två tidigare tillfällen, vilket gör att det inte kräver så mycket planering.
Dessutom kan jag vara mer flexibel och öppen för tillfälliga infall och besöka platser på ön som det inte blivit tid till vid de förra resorna.
Dessvärre innebär det också att jag kanske inte kan upprätthålla samma regelbundna Internetkontakt via bloggen som vid resor till andra delar av världen. Som ni vet får ju Kuba som en konsekvens av blockaden inte tillgång till USA-ägda fiberkablar utan får hålla tillgodo med en långsam sattelituppkoppling. Nu i januari påstås det emellertid att man skall börja lägga en fiberkabel för bl.a. Internetkommunikation från Venezuela.

Well, it will be Cuba again this year!
Actually it is a compromise. I was thinking about cycle Mexico and Yucatan Peninsula actually. But since I have not been in shape this autumn and a multi-month trip to Mexico would require a somewhat more rigorous planning, I have belatedly decided to bike in Cuba instead. I've biked there on two previous occasions, so it does not require as much planning.
Also, I can be more flexible and open to the occasional whim, and visit sites on the island, as there hasn’t been time to for at earlier trips.
Unfortunately, it also means that I may not be able to maintain the same regular Internet contact via the blog as for my cycling to other parts of the world. As you probably already know, Cuba have no availability to US-owned fibre cables as a consequence of the blockade, but may have to make it with a slow satellite connection.
Now in January, it is alleged, however, that they will start to lie out a fibre cable for Internet communication from Venezuela.
