Malecon
Matanzas 10 januari
restaureringsarbetena just påbörjats och idag i januari 2014 pågår dom
fortfarande.

Matanzas January 10
When I arrived in Havana about a week ago a cold front with hard icy winds and torrential rains passed the island and turned the streets of the capital into rivers. The famous boardwalk Malecon was eg turned off when the sea blow over the high ramparts. The misery came from the north, from North America. Washington, probably! For a Nordic citizen however, it was no problem to adapt to the climate. It was about the same from where I came. But after a few days everything was back to normal, hot, humid, bright sun and ...... belching heavy traffic!
Not much has changed since I was here last, which of course can be interpreted as both good and bad. El Capitolio and the National Theatre, the stately buildings at Parque Central was the subject of extensive restoration. But if it is with them as with the ancient beautiful theater building Teatro Sauto at Plaza Vigia here in Matanzas, where I currently is located, it will take time. When I was here in 2006 the restoration work has just started and now in January 2014 it is still underway.
I myself wilkl stay in Matanzas over the past few days but return to the capital in the coming weekend. Stay there for a night or two before I take the bus down to Cienfuegos. See ya!
