CUBA AND THE BEYONCE EFFECT

Tidigare i år besöktes Kuba och Havanna av det kända artistparet Beyonce Knowles - Carter och Jay - Z. De firade sin femåriga bröllopsdag. Paret väckte naturligtvis stor uppståndelse och hårdbevakades av såväl kubanska som USA-medier. Uppmärksamheten var så stor att den dels överskuggade den kände kubabloggaren och regimkritikern Yoani Sanchez samtidiga turné i USA och dels väckte sådan vrede bland de mest rabiata exilkubanerna såsom senatorerna Ileana Ros - Lehtinen och Mario Diaz - Balart att de anklagade Beyonce för att vara ett verktyg för "Castros propaganda" eftersom hennes besök på Kuba "stal" ljuset från Yoani Sanchez.

Earlier this year Cuba and Havana was visited by the famous artist-couple Beyonce Knowles - Carter and Jay - Z. They celebrated their five-year wedding anniversary. The couple naturally aroused great excitement and were hard guarded by both Cuban as the U.S. media. The attention was so great that it overshadowed the famous Cuban blogger and dissident Yoani Sanchez simultaneous tour in the U.S. and partly caused such anger among the most rabid exiled Cubans as senators Ileana Ros - Lehtinen and Mario Diaz - Balart who accused Beyonce of being a tool "Castro propaganda" since her visit to Cuba "stole" the light from Yoani Sanchez.
